Why an engineering firm manages its own servers instead of renting a cloud
When a service has to issue qualified timestamps, certify millions of communications or run a vision system in production, infrastructure stops being a detail: it is part of the product. That is why we do not depend on a generic cloud or on a provider we cannot hold to account: we select the best data centres in Spain, rent the space we need in them and put on top servers that we design, configure and operate ourselves.
The data centre provides what only a data centre can: redundant power and cooling, physical security, connectivity from several carriers and its own certifications. ASETEC provides the rest: high-performance server architecture, redundancy, segmented network, replicated storage, verified backups, hardening, patching and 24/7 monitoring, all within the scope of our ISO/IEC 27001 certification.
That same infrastructure is available to our clients: we host and operate their systems (the ones we build and the ones they already have) with an engineering team that knows every server and, when the project requires it, we select the most suitable data centre for their case.

Questions we are usually asked
Does ASETEC own the data centres?
No. We select the best data centres in Spain and rent the space we need in them; what belongs to ASETEC are the servers, network, storage, backups and 24/7 operation, designed and managed by our team within the scope of the ISO 27001 certification.
How do you choose the data centre?
Stability and track record, power and cooling redundancy, physical security and its own certifications, connectivity from several carriers, location in Spain and contractual terms. For a specific client we can select the most suitable data centre for their case.
Can I host my own equipment?
Yes. We install and operate client equipment in the selected data centre (racking, network, monitoring and remote hands), and we offer managed hosting if you prefer us to administer the systems too.
What availability do you offer?
The infrastructure combines the data centre's redundancy (power, cooling, network) with the redundancy we design into servers, storage and backups, and with rehearsed continuity plans. The specific service levels are agreed in writing for each system.
How is data protected?
With the data centre's certified physical controls and with ASETEC's logical controls (segmentation, encryption, access control, audit logging) managed under our ISO 27001 system, plus encrypted backups with verified restores.
Can you migrate systems from another cloud or provider?
Yes. We plan the migration in phases, with parallel testing, an agreed cut-over window and a rollback procedure, and then operate the system with 24/7 monitoring.
